FAQ's

Being in a performing group always raises questions. Hopefully, you will feel more at ease after reading the answers to questions others have had along the way!

Can I be in extra choir activities and still participate in sports?

Yes! It's our job as your teachers and coaches to help you explore the different opportunities available to you in middle school. It's your job to communicate your conflicts so we can help you resolve them.

Do I have to know how to sing or read music to join?

Nope. Learning how to sing and read music is all part of the process. Mr. Wurst says that if you don't know math, you go to a math teacher; if you don't know how to sing, then you go to a singing teacher.

Are there performances outside of school?

Yes, but only two: the Holiday Concert and the Spring Concert, for 6th and 7th grade choir students. All concerts are part of your grade, and students are required to attend the entire concert. Most performances last between 45 and 60 minutes. Your Choir Handbook will give you all the information you'll need regarding performances and attendance.

How much after-school time is required for choir?

Very little time is spent outside of school for required rehearsals and performances. Mr. Wurst will always communicate the time needed at least 2 weeks in advance. Any conflicts can be resolved by having your parents contact Mr. Wurst by phone or email right away.
